We went into it openly, having no experience with selling a house. However, we did feel that the initial asking price suggested by our real estate agent was on the high side. An amount you might get if there are bids over the asking price, but we felt that shouldn't be set as the asking price then. When it turned out that there was relatively little interest in the property, we adjusted the asking price downwards in consultation.
