Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. One notable point is the deposit of €500 to have a chance at the property – you get this back, unless you cancel yourself after allocation. Rental Rotterdam is a very shady rental agency. They ask you to pay a deposit of 500 euros immediately after a viewing, even before they have shown you a contract or confirmed that you can rent the property. They abuse the scarcity in the housing market by shifting all effort and financial burdens onto the house seeker. They overwhelm you with requests for documents (24 in total, some of which involve extra costs for the house seeker), even if you are initially not considered a suitable candidate for the property.

Unfortunately, Rental Rotterdam is not clear about the locations of viewings and open houses; you don't receive instructions as to where you need to be. Furthermore, they are very difficult to reach. If you are somewhere at your appointment time but no one sees you, and you can’t get through on the phone, that's it for you. Forget about it, because there are 100 others like you anyway. Review: Disappointing experience with Rental Rotterdam My husband went to a viewing and the contact was through him. We submitted everything neatly as requested, but then it remained silent from their side for a long time. There was absolutely no update, not even proactively. Only when my husband contacted them himself did we hear after three weeks that we didn't have a chance at the property. However, this was communicated without any explanation or reason. Foreigners get fewer chances faster. Because my husband is foreign. The communication was very disappointing and unprofessional. As potential tenants, we would have expected at least timely and transparent communication. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend Rental Rotterdam based on this experience.
