When you put your house up for sale, you know there are no guarantees. You have to just happen upon that buyer who is looking for your house at that particular moment. The whole process is uncertain and also depends quite a bit on bad luck/good luck. We are fully aware of this. Perhaps we had too high expectations, but if you engage a real estate agent for such an exciting process and pay them quite a lot, you hope for proactive, customer-oriented and personal communication with a clear strategic plan in mind. That is what we missed. We felt like a 'number'. Often, we had to do the follow-up ourselves on matters and make suggestions regarding the sales approach. We had hoped for more initiative and involvement. We also pointed this out. We even asked whether there was really time and attention for us or if it was too busy and we better look elsewhere. Sometimes, we did not get a response for days on our questions and were not called at the agreed-upon times. We found that difficult. Especially once we had accepted an offer, we experienced little involvement in communication during all the complications that came with wrapping up the sales process (inspection, appraisal, etc.). Are you looking for a party with lots of experience in sales: then you are in the right place. Everything is arranged. The basics are in order — the house is ultimately sold — but with a bit more attention to communication and personal approach and customer-friendliness instead of the 'factory' feeling, the experience for customers could really be more pleasant.
