As a very enthusiastic, potential buyer, I didn't feel taken seriously at all and even felt like I came to Friesland for nothing. Perhaps just to drive up the price? It also seems as if one real estate agent within the company is more important than another; you just have to be lucky with who you have the viewing with. The viewing itself was pleasant, although there were immediately many distrustful questions ‘whether I could afford it’. So much so that it became annoying. From the real estate agent, I understood that there wasn't yet another offer. So I made an official offer (the asking price) directly after the viewing and would have liked to and been able to bid even higher. However, I thought this was my first offer and that I had a negotiating position (after all, there was no bidding process). Apparently, it was also immediately my final offer – I hadn't counted on that and it wasn’t told to me like that. They did, however, go into negotiation with the next bidder the day after and that person was allowed to buy it directly – I didn’t get any further chance to discuss or increase my offer. Perhaps this buyer had already been there before and this was their second viewing? Something feels as if there had already been conversations with these people. Because I wanted to meet all of the seller's wishes, was very flexible and would have liked to and been able to bid much more, but didn’t get the chance – even though there wasn’t yet an offer? So I sincerely wonder whether the seller got the best price. Of course, a seller is allowed to give a house to whoever they want, but you do want to have had a fair chance. It feels as if I was only allowed to drive up the price and that it had already been decided that this house would go to someone else. In addition, this real estate agent discourages you from having a technical inspection done – which is unwise with an old house and strange given the duty of investigation. But even if you let go of all your requirements and reservations, you don’t get any chance at all. This was at least my feeling and experience – there will undoubtedly have been miscommunication but the bidding process felt unclear and unfair. I therefore do not recommend this real estate agent.
