I was naturally afraid that it would shoot pain into my back, during deadlifts, which of course was nonsense, but a lot could still be developed. You taught me how to deal with aches and pains, if the pain was a 1, 2 or 3 on a scale of 10, and the pain went away within 2 days, then there wasn't really anything wrong, an important lesson for me. We also addressed my overweight. That was naturally somewhat a tricky issue, because this tricky client had indicated in advance that body weight wasn't the first priority. I must state that the weight was still a big challenge for me. I adjusted my eating pattern several times, but there were still small additions to what I ate, which occasionally crept in. That can happen when you’re in a relationship, you don’t entirely determine what you eat yourself. But I have noticed that I generally need less food than I ever thought possible. Slowly but surely, the desired weight gets closer, I now quickly notice when I start to go off track and can therefore anticipate faster. But yes, how do you as a coach actually deal with that, what can you do with it, how hard do you have to push, in what way can you still help people who are somewhat stuck, could you perhaps become discouraged by that as a coach? We certainly came out of it well, and yes, when it comes to body weight, it’s about discipline, and if you're getting older like I am, you burn less than someone aged 20. You can therefore also consume fewer calories. The latest major changes in the training schedule, where we are going to use the four-weekly program with increasing intensity, plus the much heavier weights regarding split squats and dumbbell bench press, are making significant progress quickly, I'm very happy about that. Concluding on our joint path concerning strength sports, I can state that it was mainly a lot of learning (and also unlearning). It has surprised me that the lessons often have to be repeated before they are absorbed, that surprised me, you think that if something is explained, then you know it and will continue to know it, but that turned out to be quite different. Mike had to repeat certain things emotionally very often, for example, the speed at which you perform exercises. You always tend to accelerate the execution, I don't know if that’s impatience. With Mike, I often managed to repeat a particular exercise 12 times. If Mike then unleashed his coaching, I was lucky if I could still manage 8. Concluding, I can state that Mike has greatly helped me forward, in terms of content. Furthermore, I would like to compliment him on how he dealt with me at the beginning.
