Our experience with Vuurtoren Makelaars has been frankly disappointing and has led to financial damage. When selling our 1910 house, the real estate agent failed to advise us on including an age clause: something that is standard and essential for a property of this age. Due to this omission, we were held liable by the buyers after the sale for defects that are characteristic of a house of this age (such as a sagging floor and rotten beams). We ultimately had to compensate for the damage ourselves (over €8,000,-), despite having discussed this with both the liability insurer and the real estate agent themselves. Remarkably, during a telephone conversation, the real estate agent himself acknowledged that he was responsible and explicitly stated that he was willing to pay compensation. However, this commitment never materialized, despite repeated requests. To date, no solution has been offered. Neither the real estate agent nor the insurer has taken responsibility, while we have done everything to prevent further damage and legal proceedings. We advise everyone to be very cautious with Vuurtoren Makelaars and to get absolutely everything in writing. Our experience shows that verbal commitments are worthless, and that essential duty of care is not a given with this real estate agent.
