With thanks for the neat response below and the knowledge that where “meat is chopped, splinters fly”, I would gladly adjust three “penalty points” to one. Because making mistakes is allowed, especially when you acknowledge them and learn from them! Who knows, see you at the next dream house…. 😃 While the sounds are quite common that the housing market is no longer as strained as it was a year ago, this realtor still whips things up nicely… For a house that was for sale, I called and offered more than 6% above the asking price. The person who answered the phone wasn’t thrilled about that, because the purchase contract had already been drawn up with someone who had bid even more. When I indicated that I could also offer more, the person stated that I would then have to offer more than 15% above the asking price. A considerable challenge, but when I said I was willing to pay it, the person indicated they would call me back. Unfortunately, that was over three weeks ago and I haven’t heard anything since. And you can say that that was fair, because the draft purchase contract had already been drawn up at the time I called, but that invitation to offer more than 15% is still a bit surprising (to put it mildly) and not calling back ever is quite disappointing, so the three stars space for improvement that I give here are truly justified.

Looking for a realtor without integrity? Then you've come to the right place with Spijker makelaardij. 2 examples: You call to make an appointment to view a property but are told that the 'time to bid' has expired and closed this morning. But you can still bid, uh. 2nd example another house made a bid, and then stretch it out for as long as possible so that you are two weeks further along with other viewings, but you are kept on a string with excuses. Just say the bid is too low, or we want to do some more viewings. Fair game, not here.
