The fact that the kitchen was not tidy and modern and that the house was not 'well-maintained' didn’t bother me so much. After all, I had plans to tackle the house myself. Regarding the glass, the broker (daughter of) indicated that the VVE (homeowners association) would address this in the short term (within a year). The wooden frames would be replaced with plastic and double glazing would be installed. This was also told to my purchasing advisor whom I had hired and who had a viewing later that day. A few days after the viewing, I called the office again to ask how things were with the text on the broker's website and on Funda. Both pages stated that the house was entirely equipped with double glazing. The employee of the office then indicated that I shouldn’t worry and that the double glazing would be arranged through the VVE. When I signed my preliminary purchase agreement and called the VVE to ask if the work at the rear (for the glass) could be combined with my own demolition and construction work in my home, the VVE reacted with surprise. They stated that there had never been any mention of this and that the rear of the house was the responsibility of the owner. When I confronted the broker with this, he stated that his daughter had never mentioned this and that I and my purchasing advisor had misunderstood it.
