For information for everyone considering renting a rental property from Expat Rental Services: perhaps take a look at the WoonInfo page about 'reclaiming unfair brokerage fees'. I'm not 100% sure, but it could be that they are technically charging their costs illegally. Unfortunately, I can’t post a link. I see that people have good experiences, and although you can probably get a property through these people technically, Domagoj was just annoying and insisted on receiving an email before he got an SMS about a property, even though I had his number. And Klaas was okay, but he didn't stand up for me at all when I expressed my concerns about the cleaning costs in the contract (it is not allowed, and they said that I could complain, but the landlord would simply 'rent it to one of the other 100 potential tenants'). I understand that it’s difficult to rent in Amsterdam, but it's a shame we have to pay thousands of euros to intermediaries. Ultimately, I didn’t rent from them and found something else.

I have used the services of Expat Rental Services twice already (once for renting and once for buying a property). Klaas was incredibly empathetic and patient when I needed his services twice. Everything was translated into English, and all steps were very clear. He was highly accessible via email, phone, and in person. When you are abroad, you need to find good and reliable services.
