We sold our house in the fall of 2024 with the help of Camil and are super happy with what Camil (and his colleagues) meant to us throughout the entire process. I would definitely recommend Hoekstra and van Eck (this is the second time I have asked them for the sale of a property)

The real estate agent sold us a house with a potentially lethal defect (a leaking smoke gas pipe, which leaks deadly carbon monoxide). After our building inspector determined this leak, they were unwilling to repair it. This agency is therefore knowingly pushing the boundaries of the law with possibly dangerous consequences. I would not hire people like these.

My experience selling a house in Amsterdam with this real estate agency was terrible. The house was of course sold and the real estate agency did the absolute minimum that any other real estate agency can offer you: photos, listings on funda, viewings. The experience itself was simply awful. Our agent responded very quickly until we signed a contract with him. After that, he began to answer emails every few days and never called me again. If I had questions or doubts, he answered with the same words, simply copying his old answers. The feeling was completely unwelcomed. After the viewings we had multiple interested parties, but the broker advised us to choose the first offer: despite the low price, the buyers promised to buy the house quickly because they didn't need a mortgage. I accepted the agent’s advice and turned down other interested parties. Then a complete nightmare began. One day they called me from the real estate agency’s office and told me that they had scheduled dates for a technical inspection, signing of an agreement and also an appraisal of the apartment. When I asked why an appraisal was needed if the buyer hadn't taken out a mortgage, the secretary rudely told me that the buyer did need a mortgage and therefore wanted a full appraisal. I suggested that buyers use a Calcasa report, to which they replied even more rudely that the agency does not offer alternatives in such cases. For me this was unacceptable because I was going on a long vacation and there were cats at home, for whom this is a huge stress, and such a condition was initially not present in the offer. The real estate agency stubbornly refused to negotiate with the buyers and it seems to me that they never discussed this issue with the buyer’s broker. Subsequently, my agent began insisting that I congratulate the buyers and preferably also come to sign the final documents, although I would then have to pay for the services of a translator (€300) and come to the notary at an extremely inconvenient time for me. I still don't understand why I need to communicate with people who lied in their offer and didn’t send a personal message. But this was the only thing that the agent regularly asked of me and reminded me every few days. When I asked the broker how much the house had been appraised for, he simply disappeared. On the day of the transaction he didn't even call me, and eventually I asked a notary to confirm the sale. The broker didn’t even send us the meter readings on delivery day, thank goodness we checked them ourselves. It is just a terrible experience. I trusted this agency because I had an absolutely wonderful experience working with their office in another city and I hoped that the Amsterdam office would work just as well, but I was wrong. I absolutely do not recommend selling a house through this real estate agency in Amsterdam.

We have used the office in Nieuwvest and in Apeldoorn, Bob is very skilled and understands his profession very well. We were ourselves skeptical because of the current market but truly nothing but praise for Bob, our house was sold very quickly. From the Apeldoorn office, Jorick! Top performer too, skilled and very quick to respond when viewing and then bidding on our new home! In the future, if we sell and buy again, we will use Hoekstra & Van Eck again for their expertise and skill.

I find the price/quality difficult to assess because the brokerage consisted of a percentage of the purchase price. The real estate agent did not keep track of how many hours he spent on the sale of the apartment. According to him, that is not customary in the real estate industry. Tip for (buyers)sellers: ask for an hourly specification in advance if you want to gain insight into this.
