As an expat, I wasn't aware that this isn’t legal. There is a whole organization dedicated to helping expats get their money back from predatory places like this which I will pursue. When we moved in, a large part of the property was not put together, from broken toilets to electrical wires hanging from the ceiling. For the price of this fully furnished apartment, I was shocked. But it only gets worse. After we moved in, we weren’t onboarded in any way and weren't told how best to communicate. It took me six months to find out that there is a portal for submitting issues and reports, but I was never told about this. Instead, they simply didn’t respond when I tried to email or WhatsApp JLG. At one point, I added JLG to a WhatsApp with the landlord to try to sort things out and the JLG agent simply left the chat without explanation. It took six months of incessant emailing to find out that there is a portal for reporting issues. I had problems with not being able to use water in the house, no showers, no sinks, no laundry etc., and they said they couldn’t see how they could help with this. Then the TV broke seven weeks ago and it was like pulling teeth to get them to fix the problem. At this point, I've given up hope that this company will do anything and have resolved the issue myself and simply need to deduct the rent from them to cover my costs. I am also experiencing repeated blatant misogyny from them and even my partner was shocked by the way they treated me as a woman – as if I couldn’t make decisions or didn’t know what I was talking about, while I am the main breadwinner in our family and these decisions are mine. If I can give any advice to expats looking for a realtor or landlords looking for a property management company: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. A dog in a trench coat could manage a property better than these people.
