Very disappointing customer experience

I do not recommend this real estate agency. I was forced to sign documents to terminate the rental agreement under threat of penalty, and to this day I have still not received my deposit back, although I was assured that everything was in order and that I would receive the deposit within two weeks. No contact has been made until now.

Several times we have asked Keij & Stefels to remove the advertisement for our house after the sale of their website, but each time the advertisement reappeared online. The sale was 3 years ago and yet this continues to happen. Despite them saying they are 'looking into it'.

Apparently, they don't know communication here. Constantly being sent from one person to another. "My colleague will contact you" "We will get back to you". All false promises. Absolutely not recommended.

After more than two years of renting with this company, we tried to contact them regarding a rent adjustment according to the point system, which indicates that we pay euro per month more than legally permitted. After numerous attempts, they blocked my roommate's number (the number transferred and hung up after the menu) and we were only able to reach them after hanging up. Disgraceful lack of customer service.

I have never experienced such bad service before. The toilet has been clogged since day 1 that I've been here, and nothing is being done about it. Poor telephone accessibility, previously completely inaccessible.

The object for sale was not standard; it concerned two apartment rights located next to each other, one with a residential function and the other with an office function. Keij & Stefels is familiar with both and has been able to facilitate a successful sale.

I have lived through many different rental agencies in my life, but I never thought I would experience something like what I had with Keij en Stefels. It started with a leak in my bathroom approximately 5 days after I moved into the property. In principle, you can always have bad luck with a leak, and the fact that this happened isn't my reason for irritation. My irritation lies in the fact that I called Keij en Stefels at least 10 times to indicate that the leak was becoming increasingly serious, yet no action was taken. After 36 hours without a plumber arriving, and the leak spreading to the floor below, Keij en Stefels finally seemed capable of arranging for a plumber to visit. So not a pleasant first impression. My second point of irritation concerns the price-quality ratio of the property. As an Amsterdammer, I know how tight the housing market is, so you shouldn't be surprised if rental prices go towards 900 euros per month per person. But that for this amount you don't even get a somewhat insulated home, that’s simply inexplicable in my opinion. In winter, we struggled to keep the temperature above 18 degrees Celsius in our house, and in summer, we weren't surprised when the temperature rose well above 30 degrees Celsius. Basic things like sealing gaps or installing double glazing were not possible, with all the necessary inconvenience as a result. Finally, my third point of irritation is that you have a notice period of 3 months with Keij en Stefels and they stick to it incredibly rigidly. Given the tightness on the labor market, it's a condition I agreed to, but one which I fundamentally don’t find acceptable. When I had to leave my home at the end of 2023 for family reasons and indicated that I would like to do so in 2 months, Keij en Stefels immediately pointed out that the notice period was 3 months. I tried to explain to Keij en Stefels the reason for my early departure and I hoped it would be possible to find new tenants within 2 months. I informed Keij en Stefels that I had found potential new tenants myself, and I also indicated that viewings could take place in the house to speed up the process of finding new tenants. Despite all my good intentions... Keij en Stefels rejected my potential new tenants and decided to have a viewing day take place in the house 2.5 months later. During this viewing day, approximately 50(!) potential new tenants appeared, almost all of whom were interested in the property. This showed me that Keij en Stefels hadn't made an effort to help me (by finding new tenants earlier) and further worsened my feelings towards this organization. All in all, a terrible experience with a terrible company. Despite the tightness on the rental market, I would really try not to rent through this agency because you will regret it.

Meanwhile, I've called 3 times due to interest in a property for sale. Repeatedly unavailable, no number is noted, no name. There's constant expectation that you call back, email, etc. Poor customer friendliness and an unwarranted friendly approach.

These people came onto my roof without permission and through a roof from balcony to the neighbors' inside. I have included a photo. Even after explicitly stating that I do not grant permission to use my roof (due to leaks), this gentleman cheerfully continues.

I rented a place for a year, we called about the termination and they said they had registered it. For certainty, we sent an email, but this was a few days later. They therefore chose to ignore the phone call, after having confirmed that it was registered and that we would have to pay a full month's rent despite returning the keys. This was after repeated attempts at communication. This company knows no shame. If they can get more money out of you, they will. It’s a pity I was so inexperienced with renting, I really thought I had covered all the basics then. Do not recommend this company at all.

A truly terrible rental experience... I have never posted a review on Google, but I do want to warn other people about this bad real estate agency. To begin with the communication. Numerous reports were made about things breaking and we even had a leak (which caused the floor to warp, walls turned yellow, my laptop was damaged and the sofa got soaked) due to a burst pipe in our upstairs neighbors' apartment, which is also rented through this real estate agency. Apart from an 'okay', we never heard anything more. Fortunately, last year we were told 1.5 weeks in advance that the foundations under our rented apartment would be renovated and that we would experience disturbances for the next 5 months. The property became uninhabitable: glass fell off the shelf due to vibrations, every morning we woke up to drilling at 6:30 am and we could no longer talk normally in the apartment. There were also days mentioned where there would be no work done (ideal for finally spending a day at home), which of course turned out to be a lie. After several emails and phone calls, there was still no response to the question of whether an allocation would come from a temporary accommodation or compensation. So 5 months living in a horror house. You would think they would have some empathy for us after these 5 months, which of course wasn't the case. After these 5 months we decided to leave this property. After the handover, the real estate agent thought the property was not clean enough (nothing was mentioned in the final inspection about the degree of cleanliness of the property and the photos of the pre-inspection and final inspection were almost identical). We were no longer allowed to do anything and a cleaner was hired: 386 euros was withheld from the deposit (for comparison: at an hourly rate of 25 euros per hour, this means the cleaner spent 15.5 hours cleaning a property of 44 m2. The specification of the invoice was not sent - which is mandatory - and after repeatedly asking for these specifications we never received a response. So be careful with these scammers...

As loyal tenants, these people kept me in a dark hallway for four months and then increased the rent with a maximum amount, without any form of apology. They take no responsibility for the services you pay a large sum for. Do not do business with these people unless you are Indiana Jones. Edit: I've been having a problem with my rent for quite some time and Keij & Stefels finally came up with a solution. It may take a while before they offer a solution, but ultimately they want you to be happy. Communication with Keij & Stefels has always been good during this number.

Very satisfied, found a rental property in De Baarsjes through Keij & Stefels that completely suits me. Jamie & Sarah always helped me in a pleasant, transparent and quick way, so I never struggled with question marks or uncertainties. They take the tenant's schedule into account for viewings, which I found very enjoyable.

Amateurs. Appointment for a viewing, they cancel five minutes beforehand because they don't have the keys. Two trips of 45 minutes each for nothing. Two days later I ask them if they have the keys so a new viewing can be scheduled, it is reported that the apartment has already been sold. No-show.

What a mess this company makes of things. Corrective invoices every time, no insight themselves as to what still needs to be refunded and impossible to reach. Totally irresponsible and incapable.
