Internationals, be careful of an extremely biased checkout experience! The check-in process at Van Huis Uit went smoothly and easily, but checking out was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had in the Netherlands. I'm Swedish and during the viewing, the agent and landlord spoke Dutch with each other about me and the apartment, without translating or involving me. They made agreements with each other regarding my responsibility, right in front of me. To make it worse, I was asked on the spot to sign the final inspection report without the chance to look at it first. The whole process felt unfair and uncomfortable. I've lived in the apartment for three and a half years and have never had contact with the agent, so I can't say anything about their ongoing support, but my checkout experience left a very negative impression. If you're an international tenant, make sure to bring someone who speaks Dutch and documents everything. I'm not sure if this is standard with Van Huis Uit or if it's specific to the agent they sent.

Van Huis was very smooth when he entered the house and earned an honest commission, but during the term of the contract they just disappeared. When leaving the apartment, the real estate agent was extremely pushy and he couldn't reach a compromise on viewings (despite our right to stay in the house until the end of the month and our explanation about the difficulties) and we chose to speed up every process to get as quickly away from the real estate office as possible. Fortunately, I have a fantastic landlord who mediates the negotiations, which should at least be the minimum of a real estate office: causing less worries for landlords and tenants. Unfortunately, it's not worth the commission they earn. Landlords, be warned: the real estate office can damage your relationship with your tenants.

We have worked very well and pleasantly with the people of van HuisUit. This was the fourth rental via via from Huis Uit. Our apartment has been rented out again and the way that happened was downright professional. We found the fast response time to texts or emails striking. And the quality of the advice and guidance was also excellent. And perhaps the best feeling we have is that it's personal. We are not a number. And did nothing go wrong? Yes, but that was immediately resolved.

Good agency, they are present at the office and respond by email and phone. If you do manage to get a contract with them (perhaps that's the most difficult thing given the huge demand for apartments in Amsterdam), they are helpful with certain requests and also with contract adjustments in case of need (for example, I once had to switch housemates and they handled that excellently).

One of the better real estate agents in Amsterdam. The communication runs smoothly, professionally and transparently. I viewed (and ultimately signed) a rental apartment at the IJdok in Amsterdam. My initial contact was via email, followed by a viewing with the owner of the company. He didn't pay 100% attention to me because he seemed busy arranging other viewings on the phone. But otherwise, he was friendly and showed me everything that was needed. The communication with headquarters (Eliska) was fantastic.
