Irene and her team organised the entire sales process up to and including the key handover, so that – apart from the initial consultation – we didn’t even have to come from Germany to North Holland. All documents and contracts were processed digitally; telephone contact to coordinate details was possible at any time. Therefore, I want to express my compliments to the entire team for the pleasant cooperation.

Last year I collaborated with Mensen in Beweging when I was looking to purchase my first home. Unfortunately, my experience was far from good and ended on a very unpleasant note: I hired Irene Timmerman as my real estate agent for a fee that was higher than the standard rate in Amsterdam, because she claimed to offer an end-to-end service. Throughout the entire period, I observed a lack of proactivity on her part when searching and sharing properties. Her approach lacked thoroughness, which ultimately led me to search for homes on Funda myself and share them with her to help schedule appointments, which often occurred just before the closing date. This created additional pressure in the decision-making process in an already competitive market. She also claimed to have an extensive network of real estate agents, but I quickly realized that this was not entirely the case, as her focus was more on rentals. Even her assessment of properties was taken from a rental perspective, rather than a purchase one. Because we made little progress over almost a year, I decided to terminate the contract. I gave her feedback and requested to part ways, as I was not satisfied with her services. Cancellation fees of € 1500 were involved in the contract, which I also learned was not common, since most real estate agents work on a 'no-cure-no-pay' basis. When I asked to meet personally to share my feedback, she also refused to come to Amsterdam because, according to her, “the gas price was too high.” She also called me ‘insecure’ and emotional about my search criteria, the criteria she adhered to at the start of our contract. She threatened collection measures if the fee were not paid within two weeks. This has been an extremely unpleasant experience and in comparison to the Real Estate Agent with whom I collaborated afterwards, I see the lack of expertise and professionalism of People on the Move. They may have a track record in rentals, but I would strongly advise against using them as an expat buying a home in Amsterdam.

People on the move has helped me tremendously in finding a good candidate for renting out my apartment. They are professional, respond quickly and incredibly friendly. They take the worries off your hands and perform a thorough check-in and checkout which benefits both the tenant and landlord.

This company has provided the worst of many rental experiences I have had in different countries. They negotiated on behalf of my landlord regarding lease and termination conditions, which the landlord subsequently did not agree with or adhere to. They had no inspection report, the actual lease agreement itself, or a signed termination agreement, and admitted that the landlord was known for such practices with previous tenants, but chose to work with them anyway for my rental and with the tenant who followed me. The receipt was signed by myself and the owner, with the company present and facilitating, but when the owner ignored the agreement, the company told me it was between me and the landlord. If you own a house and want to carry out unethical rentals that conflict with legal agreements, this company will be happy to help you. If you are a tenant who has to work with this company, ignore everything they say and deal directly with the owner, as they will quickly make arrangements to get the money but not keep their promises. I have lost thousands of euros due to these terrible business practices.

Absolutely amazing experience!! We found our dream house 3 days before our long international trip, but Irene took care of everything while we were abroad. This included finding reliable and affordable notary, translation, inspection services and MOR. Buying a house is stressful, and buying a house with a foreign language is extremely stressful!! Irene was there for us every step of the way and always had our best interests at heart. When people failed to deliver on their promises, Irene defended our rights and held them accountable! We enjoy working with People on The Move and we recommend this company to our expat friends!

Worst experience ever. They did not deposit our security deposit of € 1800,- into a secure account and, of course, we didn't get it back when we left the house in perfect condition. They just asked us to find a house for a full month's rent of € . Terrible experience.

They confiscated our deposit and didn't give it back to us. They wanted a deposit of €1900 CASH MONEY, which was not protected by a safe, to begin with. They asked for another €1900 CASH to find us accommodation. In Amsterdam, it is very difficult to find a house, and we had to accept it because we were very desperate to find one. Anyway, we took good care of the house, and they came several times to check it, especially the homeowner. Their excuse for not giving us the deposit back was that we had exceeded the electricity limit, while according to the contract we had included €109,- in bills per month, and electricity costs in the Netherlands are very low. Also, they never showed us the bills on request to prove it. We decided to move because the homeowner asked for €2200 for a new contract, excluding internet, and he also wanted to take back the television. He clearly told us that he had some money problems and wanted to increase the rent. When we asked to get the deposit back because we had to move, they first said they had given it to the homeowner, without ANY communication. Of course, that deposit in CASH MONEY was long gone or spent. In a conversation with our lawyer, he said that we would certainly have won and taken back the deposit, but ultimately it wasn't worth the cost and time, so because we three had to share the deposit, we decided together with the company not to pursue the case, although they were very helpful and positive. STAY AWAY from them, as all agencies try to look very friendly and most other agencies are very reliable, but this one here is one of the worst I have ever experienced. Don't go with them, terrible experience.
