A poignant example of a lack of integrity, transparency and respect – deeply disappointed in Teer Makelaars Beverwijk. After months of intensive preparation, consultation and financial investment, we as a family were confronted with an extremely disappointing experience with Teer Makelaars Beverwijk. What began as a hopeful and promising opportunity to purchase the retail property after more than 21 years of renting, where my husband built his life's work, ended in a painful chapter full of deception, ambiguity and disrespect. My husband was approached at the beginning of this year by Teer Makelaars, through their employee Mr. Burger, with an offer to purchase the building as a sitting tenant. This was presented as a serious possibility – a recognition of his long-term commitment and dedication. As a family, we did everything possible to make this happen: requested multiple mortgage quotes, had a professional appraisal carried out, held talks with advisors and real estate agents, and ultimately wholeheartedly agreed with the requested selling price. Everything was ready to finalize the purchase. Despite extensive communication via email and the fact that the broker visited the store three times, we suddenly received a cold email stating that “the plans have changed” and that the entire building – including the upstairs apartment – would still be sold to a third party. No consultation, no phone call, no explanation. A painful message after months of effort, which completely overwhelmed us – both financially and emotionally. What makes this situation even more poignant is that – as far as we know – the ultimate buyer had no interest in the retail space, but only in the upstairs apartment. The decision to exclude us therefore feels all the more bitter. We also strongly suspect that this decision has something to do with our names. That suspicion, however uncomfortable, we can no longer let go of. This makes the entire course of events not only incomprehensible from a business perspective, but also very disturbing morally. The way Teer Makelaars and specifically Mr. Burger handled this situation, in our opinion, demonstrates a serious lack of transparency, communication and respect. There was no room for dialogue, no respect for our long-term involvement, and no sense of the personal impact of this decision. I fully support my husband in this process and support him in his intention to consider legal action and – if necessary – to continue. We owe it to ourselves and to other entrepreneurs to bring this to light. This experience has left deep scars. Not only have we lost a unique opportunity for ownership and security, but our trust in this broker is also completely gone. We feel ignored, misled and emotionally offended. We sincerely hope that others are warned by our story. Transparency, reliability and respect are fundamental in every business process – especially when it comes to such far-reaching decisions for entrepreneurs and families. In this case, Teer Makelaars has seriously failed, both professionally and on a human level. We therefore advise future buyers to be extremely cautious in dealing with this office.

After 21 years of being a tenant with full dedication in a retail space in Beverwijk, I was approached at the beginning of this year by Teer Makelaars with what appeared to be a unique opportunity: the possibility of purchasing the building where I have run my business for two decades. I was clearly told that as an existing tenant, I had first right to buy the property — a signal that I took seriously. Finally, a chance at security, stability and independence after years of investing at the same location. I seized this opportunity with both hands. In a short time, I requested several mortgage quotes, had an independent valuation carried out, held intensive consultations with my own real estate agent and declared myself fully in agreement with the asking price. Everything in my actions testified to complete transparency, good preparation and genuine intention. I was ready to finalize the purchase quickly and professionally. What happened next completely destroyed my trust in Teer Makelaars. Suddenly and without any warning, I was completely sidelined. To my astonishment, I heard that the property would “after all” be sold as a whole to a third party. I was not informed about this beforehand, received no explanation, no formal rejection, no conversation — nothing. No respect for my long-term commitment or the promises made earlier. As if my serious purchase intention and all my preparations were completely irrelevant. What makes this situation even more distressing: as far as I know, the buyer was only interested in the upstairs apartment and not in the retail space. There was therefore no functional necessity to not sell the retail space to me. It appears that simply the easiest or fastest way has been chosen, without any consideration for me as a loyal tenant and entrepreneur. The shop has now been definitively sold to another party. This means not only a chance has been lost, but my trust in Teer Makelaars has also been seriously damaged. The way they treated me — the lack of transparency, ignoring communication, failing to keep promises and the complete absence of honest consultation — has caused deep frustration and anger in me. This was not just a business disappointment, but also a personal feeling of disrespect and exclusion. I feel misled, and the entire process has made me look at the practices of this real estate agent with great suspicion ever since. The communication was not only deficient, but at crucial moments even completely absent. That is unacceptable in a process with such significant consequences for someone's future and life’s work. Although I have considered legal action, I now mainly choose to share my experience publicly. Other tenants and entrepreneurs need to know how serious candidates are treated. After more than two decades of tenancy, I deserved at least honesty and transparency. Teer Makelaars seriously failed in this case — on a communicative, professional and moral level.
