It's not easy to buy a house in Utrecht. We visited more than 30 houses and bid more than 10 times. Then we took the step of hiring a purchasing broker. With Chris, we saw 2 properties and discussed the possibilities. I really appreciated that Chris kept us grounded. You don't always have to overbid ridiculously if the house simply isn't worth it. If you're looking for a no-nonsense real estate agent who knows the Utrecht/Nieuwegein region well, then you need to have this one. After a long search and about 10 viewings later, Chris guided me well in buying a house. The administrative tasks are taken out of your hands and the contact is smooth and fast. The first 3 viewings are 'inclusive' and if you go over that, you pay no more than an x max amount. So if you're a huge indecisive person and would prefer to look at 20 houses first like I did, then I highly recommend Walton makelaars. You do need to actively search on Funda and in your Move account yourself. It’s not that the real estate agent specifically looks for and sends you an offer he has selected. Hence my 4/5 stars.

DO NOT BUY OR SELL ANYTHING THROUGH THIS BROKER. Truly terrible, you are rushed off the phone and they do not advocate for the selling or buying party. We were seriously interested in a property and indicated this, but it was extremely difficult to arrange a second viewing. Subsequently, they didn't show up. A few days later they called that the property was 'sold'. (perhaps useful to let other interested parties know, then you might get a better price). Moreover, they said they would keep us informed, which also did not happen. For us, we will no longer view houses from this broker!!!!!!!!
