It took one of my housemates and me 4 hours to clean up the kitchen. We couldn't follow the pickup schedule because there was still waste from previous occupants lying around. There were two abandoned containers in the backyard that were no longer accepted by the municipality. Omrin told me that those containers had not been accepted for a year already. Those containers were still full of waste when I moved in and made a pickup appointment with Omrin. During my stay, I had to contact the agent, Robert, several times but I usually got slow responses from him, sometimes he didn't respond to my emails at all. Slow, like a week or two. I remember that my housemates and I sometimes asked him the same thing, and he responded to my housemates but not to me. I didn't get a response from him, despite having sent him multiple emails at different times. Once, after I had moved in, I asked him to keep a letter for me because it was important to me and I wasn't in the Netherlands at that time. I asked if he could give me a contact person of someone who lived in that house so that I could talk directly to that person about picking up my letter. He said he could keep the letter for me, but after some time he said I could just knock and ask for it. I knocked a few times until someone was home. However, everything was handled and there was no trace of my letter. Honestly speaking, this is not the biggest problem. It's at least an example of how irresponsible a real estate agent can be. The worst thing about this situation is that our deposit was withheld without valid reason. As mentioned above, the house was full of waste on the day we moved in. We couldn't empty the containers on the day we moved out, and it's also not our responsibility to do so if they are left behind. Apparently Robert thought otherwise. I paid €385 deposit, and he gave me back €274.12. I asked for the bill to check if we had consumed more gas, sewage and electricity than we paid, but he didn't send me the exact bill. I sent him multiple emails requesting a bill, but he kept refusing to provide the documents. I asked him why the deposit was withheld, and he said that he had to pay for the cost of cleaning up the waste. Well, excuse me? Why was the house such a mess when we moved in then? It's almost a year ago, but I'm still angry about it. I have attached screenshots of our WhatsApp conversation. When I sent him the video I had made when I arrived there, and also the video that is attached to this message, he claimed it wasn't true. Then he sent me a screenshot of a video he had made in June of the house, when he showed me the video during a viewing. He claimed that the photo showed how the house looked on the day we moved in. That makes no sense at all. That guy didn't even try to hide the recording date. I moved in on 31-8-2022 and he showed me a screenshot of a video he had made in June 2022, claiming it was exactly the condition of the house when we moved in. This is the WORST rental experience of my life. I have sought legal advice and they said that the contract was very complicated. Some articles were removed, but remained ominous. The advisor also said that he knew we wouldn't be able to afford the legal costs for a lawsuit, because that would cost more than the amount we lost.
