The Brabant realtor was initially very friendly and very positive. The communication to this seller was no costs, only €650 for the brochure and placement on the internet; the rest would be paid by the buyers who would then pay a small amount because it was included in the mortgage application. As far as that went, everything was fine. My wife did have to do a lot of work; all sorts of things had to be provided. There were also sufficient viewings and we received two bids, one of which we accepted outright. However, two days before we had to go to the notary, the surprise came. We suddenly heard that we still had to pay €4000 in realtor fees. This was nowhere agreed upon and was not listed anywhere in the brochure. After a long conversation with the realtor about our disappointment, surprisingly enough, €1000 of the realtor fees could be deducted at once. I find this situation very disappointing and want to warn future sellers about it.
