If you then make a correct offer, which meets the seller's requirements, you expect proper handling and not to hear after 2 weeks that it has been sold to someone else. That such a thing can happen in the Netherlands is unheard of; the real estate agent should have at least relayed this information and let you know there was a higher bid.
