We have been searching for a rental property in Utrecht on our own for more than three months, but without success. I had approached several real estate agents, but to our great frustration, most refused to help, saying they only dealt with the sale of properties. Very disappointed with the service of this agency. They dragged out the process when it was clear that we needed an apartment for our daughter as quickly as possible. They required all sorts of documents, even after we provided them, and honestly, it was so frustrating, discriminatory and frankly classic and racist, because the income of both parents and our daughter's 3000 euros per month were not enough for the agency/owner. I immediately sent 4x the rent and that wasn't enough either. They made it clear that they only accept earned income or pay stubs in the Netherlands above 6000 for an apartment that costs 1600. It’s madness and they thwart the dreams of young people to work, study and live in a large urban city where supposedly everyone is accepted. Total lack of empathy.
