As a homosexual person, you are not blessed there and thus they say that as a homosexual person you cannot enter into a relationship, at least, they do not want to endorse and support this view of life. This creates an unsafe place. In the media (e.g., in talk show Beau and ND), they like to emphasize the positive side of the church but when critical questions are asked, they shy away. I have also noticed this in the conversations I had with leaders. A major disadvantage of such a large church is that the approach to such big themes becomes impersonal and handled via the secretary (even when I sent a personal letter to Kees and Nelinda, but I received a fairly standard answer from the secretary). I was involved for a time myself and noticed that the people I was directly involved with were open to having a conversation but they were not willing to see another perspective than their own as equal. It is a nice church to visit but if you want to become more deeply involved, it’s good to critically look whether this church really suits you.
