Because we had little to no experience buying property in Amsterdam (and in the Netherlands), we didn't know what to look out for when assessing the apartment - things like the quality of building materials, the quality of floors/pipes, the dates of the last renovations, Earthpatch details, asbestos, etc. - Sjoerd discussed it all with us, drew our attention to the most important points and explained what it would involve to repair/change/etc. During the bidding process, Sjoerd helped us choose the right bid so that we didn't overbid more than necessary. Sjoerd handled communication with selling agents, helped us with technical inspections, introduced us to a good notary - in short - was with us at every step. Again, we cannot stress enough how much of a relief it is to be able to focus solely on the search itself, without dealing with all the other details for which you would otherwise have to work hard to master things. We really *can't* say anything negative about our experience with Sjoerd. We will recommend him to all my friends and colleagues. Terrible experience. The realtor Indra called us to celebrate that we had won the highest bid, but ultimately called us three days after the final deadline/decision to tell us that we have lost the house because they accepted a rebid from someone who didn't win.
