Very disappointed in the service of Gravestate Makelaardij. Three years ago, I entrusted them with the rental of my two properties in Wassenaar. Initially, everything seemed to be proceeding as agreed, but only after almost two years did I discover that they unilaterally and without my knowledge had made significant changes to the final agreement. These adjustments, intended to correct inconsistencies in the initial agreements, unfortunately led to considerable financial damage. My repeated attempts to resolve this through conversations with Selina Schmidt were ignored; my emails remained unanswered. This lack of professionalism and transparency is unacceptable and makes this real estate agent unreliable.

I have been working well with Gravestate Makelaardij for years. The mutual (pro)activity actually always leads to the desired result; good and quick rentals. The combination of an excellently maintained house, the active representative real estate agency/team with the good market knowledge in combination with the right network leads to a quick expat rental. As soon as our property was rented out in 2017, Gravestate asked us to write a review. We thought it was still too early to do so at the time. But now that our tenants have moved out and we have our house back, posting this review seems more appropriate. “Gravestate consists of an overwhelmingly female team and we are sensitive to the needs of our clients,” says Willemijn. That statement was the sales pitch that led us to choose them over other companies, along with their attractive management commission percentage for our unit. We hired them in 2017 with a number of conditions for advertising our unit. Two of these were unfurnished and no pets allowed. Not long after our unit came onto the market, they returned with potential tenants and suggested that we waive our conditions because they thought they would fit well with our house, even though they had a pet. “It’s just a small dog,” said Shalini. She proposed that we include a clause to protect our rental unit and we did so. She also emphasized that the potential tenants asked for some furniture to be added and convinced us to do so in order to rent out the unit. Again, we were obliged. After signing the contract and our tenants had moved in, we had Ellen as Property Manager. For almost four years, we observed Ellen. In summary: being sensitive and caring towards us as clients was not entirely Ellen’s strongest suit. Our impression was rather that Ellen seemed more interested in serving our tenants. Even on the day our tenants checked out. She also didn't care much about details. Such as what is stated in our contract and the agreements with our tenants. Instead of acting as our Property Manager and looking into things, we had to remind her. We would like to go deeper into the details, but think that this is not necessary, especially because of what Willemijn presented to us from the beginning. In summary, we therefore wonder for whom Gravestate actually works? The real estate owners, the tenants or themselves? Well, it’s now safe to say that, after years of having a relationship with them, we think it's the latter, because our experience has shown that it has always been anyone but them.

Nice people, but seem inexperienced. The purchase almost failed due to poor communication. I constantly had to chase after everything. There's enough choice in Wassenaar so I would say: definitely look elsewhere.
