We were incredibly lucky to have Sjoerd as our real estate agent. Before we hired him, we had a bad experience with another agent, so we know all too well how choosing the wrong person can affect your apartment search. From the first conversation, we were enormously charmed by his calmness, politeness, and attention to detail. He asked all necessary questions, explained the entire process, and made sure we understood every step. We felt from the start that we were in good hands, which was a huge relief - buying an apartment is incredibly stressful, you want as much help as possible; doubts about your agent can only make things worse. Once we started actively looking and signed up for viewings, Sjoerd did his best to accompany us to all of them. Since we had little to no experience with buying a home in Amsterdam (and the Netherlands), we didn't know what to look out for when evaluating an apartment - things like the quality of construction materials, floor and pipe quality, dates of last renovation, details about groundwork, asbestos, etc. Sjoerd handled everything for us, pointed out the important aspects, and explained what was needed to fix/change anything. During the bidding process, he helped us choose the right bid so we wouldn't overpay. I visited RE/MAX Royal at their office and my experience was frankly disappointing. From the moment I walked in, I didn't feel like I was being treated as a serious person. The employees seemed uninterested and unprofessional. In addition, my data was handled carelessly. Mistakes were made and I had to provide the same information multiple times, which was very frustrating. This doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, especially when it comes to something important like buying or selling a home. All in all, I would absolutely not recommend this real estate agent. Customer friendliness and carefulness don't seem to be a priority here.
