Disappointing experience My experience was unfortunately not positive. The contact was rushed and I had a strong feeling that they wanted to deal with me as quickly as possible, which came across as impersonal and distant. The way of communicating left something to be desired - with more attention and a more professional approach, a better result could perhaps have been achieved. As it was, it felt more like 'haggling' than customer-oriented service. I would not be able to entrust my home with a clear conscience to them.

I'm not the type to leave bad reviews, and I already feel guilty about this, but I hope I can prevent someone else from experiencing the same situation. I will go into more detail below, but briefly: poor advice from TWM has cost me at least €50,000, and the situation is still ongoing. I engaged TWM in 2021 to help me with purchasing a house. If I had written a review then, it would have received 5 stars. The real estate agent I worked with was exceptionally helpful and communicative. As an expat, I felt very reassured. Ultimately, I started looking for properties in the Zaanstad area. TWM informed me that this wasn't their primary working area, but that they could help me here without a problem. Houses in Zaanstad of a certain age are known to require foundation repairs, and it was made clear to me from the beginning that I couldn’t afford foundation repairs and therefore had to avoid buying a house where this was needed. Eventually, I found a property nearby that I really liked... but the house was slightly tilted, which again pointed to foundation problems. I raised this with the real estate agent, who said there was no particular reason for concern, but that a structural survey would give us more clarity. The structural survey was carried out by an inspector recommended by the real estate agent. In the report, he stated that there didn't appear to be any specific reasons for concern regarding the foundation; the house was naturally tilted, but he hadn’t noticed anything abnormal. He also indicated that a specific foundation report could tell us more, but he didn't deem it necessary. I contacted the real estate agent again and asked for reassurance about the foundation issue. Again, I was told there was no reason for concern. I asked the real estate agent about a suitable offer on the house, and he approved the bid I wanted to make, as it was a good offer. Everything went well, I bought the house and moved in. Subsequently, my situation unexpectedly changed and by the end of 2023, it became clear that I would be moving out of the Netherlands. I knew the timeframe would be quite short, so I hoped I would break even with the sale of the house. I contacted TWM again to arrange the sale, as I had previously had such positive experiences with them. Then it became clear that the advice they gave me when purchasing the house was poor. As soon as we tried to sell the house, every potential buyer mentioned problems with the foundation. What was 'no problem' became the reason why nobody wanted to buy the house... and since I only lived in it for two years (November 2021-November 2023), I can hardly imagine that the foundation has deteriorated from 'no cause for concern, perfectly normal' to 'REQUIRES IMMEDIATE RENOVATION' in such a short time. As of this writing, I have had the house on the market for €50,000 less than what I paid for it, and I still can’t get an offer at that amount. This is the minimum amount I can accept and with which I can repay the mortgage; if it's lower, I still have to pay the mortgage. Because TWM seemed so serious and sincere otherwise (hence I still give 2 stars instead of 1), I would like to believe that this was an honest mistake. I’ve spoken with several other real estate agents, and those who did NOT live in Zaanstad seemed to agree with TWM. On paper, they thought the house should be able to be sold for this price without problems. Only a local real estate agent in Zaanstad told me something different. So I suspect that’s because they don’t know the area, and there was no malicious intent involved. That being said, I made the purchase and bid on their recommendation, and hired them to ensure I would pay a fair price, as I don't understand real estate. And I can’t say it was anything other than a failure on their part, even if the mistake was honest. This has derailed my life, and the only loss that TWM suffers is the time it takes to sell the house. That time is probably still covered by their share of the generous offer I initially made on the house, according to their recommendation.
