The day before yesterday, we had a very unpleasant experience with Eva Hoek, realtor at van Ekeren and Kuiper Culemborg. At 3:47 PM, we submitted an offer, and the bidding was to close at 4:00 PM. At 4:11 PM, I was called to say that we had the winning bid and that the house was ours. An hour later, I was called again with the message that someone else had still managed to submit another, higher bid precisely at 4:00 PM, with the offer coming in via email and through a different email address. Quite a very strange coincidence indeed. Incidentally, it is also odd that as a realtor you don't properly check your mailbox at 4:00 PM and before making people happy who have been searching for a home to buy for half a year. In short: be warned about this kind of practice because your highest bid is now worth nothing with the closing time of the bids.
