Very bad experience with Van der Wiel Makelaars. The first meeting was still positive, but after that things went wrong. I had to repeatedly insist before our house was finally placed on Funda. The worst thing, however, was that offers were not passed on to us or were passed on much too late. At one point there was even a bid that was €25,000 higher than the previous bid, and that was “forgotten” by the broker. When I confronted him with this, he literally said: “I’m only human.” To top it all off, he then asked me to delete the WhatsApp conversation about this — which of course I didn't do. In short: a very unprofessional approach, which could easily cost you money. If you are looking for a reliable broker, I would definitely not recommend Van der Wiel. Response to your answer: Thank you for your response. The fact that I posted my review more than a year later does not invalidate my experience. Frankly, I find your comment about that inappropriate and detracts from the content of what I wanted to share. You point to a complex situation and a legal conflict, but precisely in such circumstances it is the responsibility of a broker to communicate independently, clearly and transparently with all parties involved. That did not happen in my case, or at least not sufficiently. The offer you are talking about was not clearly communicated to me at the time, nor in a manner appropriate given the situation. Your explanation afterwards does nothing to change the fact that I experienced this as a lack of transparency and care. You may regret that, but I am the one who felt the consequences of it. You state that you always strive for correct action, but unfortunately that has not been shown in my file. Had a nice first conversation with Mr. van de Wiel senior, and based on that, we decided to have der Wiel sell our house. But then it went from a good feeling to a very bad feeling; nothing was discussed anymore about bidding deadlines etc. We addressed this to der Wiel junior, and the only answer we constantly received was 'that's how we work, that's how we work.' From us, a resounding fail, and we will never do business with them again.

The real estate agent has no knowledge of the matter, which is not uncommon; we, as potential buyers, knew more about the property than he did. He was also completely uninterested, and you'd think that considering it's an apartment in the higher price segment, that’s quite something! This apartment has been for sale for almost 3 years now and needs to be styled to speed up the sale. This real estate agent can try now and hoped to sell it quickly without the client having to incur costs (certainly not a favour from this man/client). It is presented as if they wanted to offer us this super opportunity. As a real estate agent, you must always be well informed. Moreover, he stood behind you in every room in a very irritating way so that you couldn't experience anything on your own terms.

I would never recommend this realtor. We had a sales appointment. The realtor rang the doorbell 45 minutes earlier than scheduled without any prior notification. When it was pointed out that he was 45 minutes early, his response was 'yes, but I have another appointment'. This was obviously a very unprofessional attitude because our appointment had been scheduled weeks in advance. The rest of the appointment also didn't give a professional feeling. The realtor just sat on the edge of the sofa, which gave the impression that he had to leave in a hurry and actually didn't have time for this conversation. When asked if he had a brochure we could quietly review, the answer was 'you can find all the information on the website'. It was a very unpleasant experience and I really wanted to turn him away. Furthermore, he estimated our house price far below its value and was also the most expensive realtor in terms of costs, namely 1.2% while others ask only 0.8%. Of course we chose another realtor, Dolphijn (also in Maassluis confirmed), who are very professional, have assessed the price much higher and even sold our house within 2 weeks above the asking price. I would NEVER and under no circumstances recommend him.

Update: I have been contacted by the owner and CEO Alina Bijster, who listened to the problems I was experiencing with the agency and has offered to explore all possible ways to rectify the situation and the inconvenience they unintentionally caused, and that counts as excellent customer service to me. Although I may not be able to use their services at this moment, I am inclined to say that they will certainly be the agency I think of when I need fixed-rate services, because they care about the people who use their services to a level I have not yet encountered with an agency here, but that I would like to see. They were great until they weren't. I signed up for an apartment they had offered and went to the viewing. The initial contact and process were very good. Note that this was in December, the market is tough and we urgently needed an apartment, but it is also understandable if we don’t get it because it’s not their fault, and they communicated that we wouldn’t receive the apartment on time and that was that. What went wrong: On December 31st at exactly 23:25 I received a phone call from the agency which I couldn't answer because I was in a meeting until 23:30 and then I called back. Both were completely ignored, we are a week later and no beeps from the agency and I have no idea what that phone call was about.
