Date unknownI found the communication with this selling agent quite disappointing. Their language came across as unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. A little friendliness and respect work wonders – especially in real estate, where trust and clear communication are essential. I hope they will reflect on this and consider adjusting their tone in future interactions. EDIT: Good communication is crucial in real estate. Unfortunately, we were not treated professionally by this agent. I initially didn't want to reveal too many details, but now I feel that I must. When we presented the result of our offer, the agent insulted and laughed at us by saying we had the lowest bid, and even if it had been the highest, we wouldn’t win anything from them – he literally laughed at us. When we asked for the reason, he continued to insult us by saying how bad and unreliable we are. Actually, it didn't start there. He also discriminated against us during the viewing. He didn’t take us seriously and only paid attention to others. He even made a homophobic comment, simply because we are a married gay couple. The way we were treated is unacceptable, and instead of apologizing, they chose to lie in their public response. Just to clarify what really happened with the first apartment: we had the highest bid but were not accepted. The agent said that they didn’t trust our financial situation and asked for extra documents. Because we couldn't deliver what they requested on time, we had to withdraw our offer. But now they are trying to make it seem as if we simply changed our minds and are unreliable. We want to be clear: we could have withdrawn our bid without giving a reason before signing the contract. We acted in good faith, and it is enormously disappointing to see the situation twisted like this.

We have thoroughly investigated the matter in order to respond adequately. We understand that you made an offer on a property that we had for sale in Amsterdam. Your offer was accepted by the seller and we had to inform the other interested parties that their bids were not successful. A day later, however, you expressed serious doubts about the property and withdrew your offer. This was of course disappointing for the seller, but it can happen. Two weeks later, you made another bid on a different property in the same street and the same complex. The broker then asked why you submitted another bid, since you recently expressed doubts about similar properties in the same apartment building. This time your bid was not the highest, and the seller decided to accept another bid. You stated that you were surprised that the broker brought up the recent cancellation. However, we believe this is a justified question. As brokers, we are obliged to investigate potential buyers so that we can advise our clients which offer is most suitable to accept. We needed a real estate agent who really understood the house and ideally was just as enthusiastic about it as we were. We chose Rohlof Real Estate, simply because Frank showed an absolute passion for the house, which we knew he would convey to potential buyers. From start to finish, Frank worked hard to help us find a buyer and guide the sales process. The quality of the advertising he created was excellent, especially the video. They have excellent knowledge of the Amsterdam housing market and gave me good advice on the best sales strategy. Date unknownMy personal experience is very bad and I will not recommend them personally. In my case, we found their approach inappropriate when we contested that they charged us a substantial amount upon check-out without any discussion or agreement with us, stating the reason for the house not being clean. However, no such important remark was made during the check-out inspection. The house was thoroughly cleaned. Upon check-in, they sent an inspection report stating that everything was clean. However, there were many places where it wasn't clean and we mentioned this in the check-in report, but we felt that this was not taken into account at check-out. At check-out, our deposit was not refunded within a month. Ultimately, after multiple reminders when it was eventually refunded, high cleaning costs were charged, while in our opinion the house was sufficiently clean and handed over cleaner than upon check-in. When we pointed out that the check-in report mentioned that the house wasn't completely clean, this was not taken into account. We felt terrible about the experience and felt it didn’t add up. I certainly will not recommend them.

Hi Nandini, We have communicated openly with you, but if you want us to explain it again here, we are happy to do so. Before you checked in, the apartment was thoroughly cleaned. Our broker inspected this and you gave permission in the check-in report. After check-in, you had two weeks to supplement this report. You made use of this possibility by sending an email with approximately 14 photos that you wanted to add to the report. Two of these concerned the cleanliness of the apartment and both about oil stains on the wall in the kitchen. You reported nothing else to us than it was not clean. We certainly took this into account. During check-out, for which we have already sent you several photos, the apartment was not properly cleaned. For example, there were still hairs in your bed and bathroom. Because you received a clean apartment, the landlord has deducted an amount from your deposit for cleaning. This amount totaled € 300,- including parking and travel costs. The report clearly states that the apartment was not clean and you signed it after I explained my findings to you. In addition to the cleaning, the bathroom mirror was also broken. The landlord did not charge any costs for this. We as a broker do not retain your deposit. After you let us know that you had not received it back in time, we repeatedly urged the landlord to refund the deposit and communicated this to you. A few days after you informed us of this, it was settled. Again, your accusations and reviews are unwarranted and unfair.

Date unknownPersonally a very bad experience and absolutely recommended. They charged us a hefty cleaning fee at check-out, while in our opinion the house was thoroughly cleaned. It wasn't transparent and there were no discussions or agreements made with us about it. The deposit was refunded after the agreed term of one month, after deduction of a high charge. That came as a big shock to us, because there were no significant remarks about the cleanliness of the house at check-out. Moreover, upon check-in we mentioned several points about the fact that the house was not thoroughly cleaned, which were not taken into account at check-out. My experience was extremely bad; we found the behavior of their employees inappropriate, unprofessional and non-transparent. Let's say: be careful and definitely never do this again.

When we handled the check-out inspection with you, we saw that some rooms in the apartment were reasonably clean, others were not. We discussed this after the inspection and it is also clearly stated in the report signed by you. After you received the report, there was no problem. If a very reasonable cleaning cost has now been deducted from your deposit, you are turning your story around and it seems as if the apartment was completely clean when you moved out. Your accusations are harsh and unfair. We have always been very clear in our communication with you and acted on sound grounds.
