03 Jul 2025Very rude and unprofessional experience with Eelco Willems of Hopman Makelaars Castricum. Business done with Eelco Willems of Hopman Makelaars Castricum. Only contact via email. Eelco never initiated any phone calls. Very impersonal and uninterested. Deals with bids very carelessly. Extremely strung along. The initial bid was too low, and the seller made no counter offer. No negotiation possible. An ultimate bid was requested. Subsequently radio silence, and after a long time an email. There were more interested parties. Everyone can place a bid. After 1.5 days an email stating that the choice had fallen on another bidder. This could be due to a higher bid or better conditions. Or whether we wanted to be on the reserve list if the sale does not go ahead. All in all, two weeks have passed, and we were kept in uncertainty to get to this point. Extremely rude and unprofessional. As selling broker perhaps a choice. But for us as buying party Hopman Makelaars (and especially in the person of Eelco Willems) is finished. Be wary when Eelco Willems is the selling broker.

Your account of the facts is incorrect; I certainly spoke with your partner, and you have been informed on several occasions about the state of affairs. If you had been guided by a buyer's agent, who could have indicated how the sales process might proceed, you could have saved yourself a lot of frustration. It can happen and isn’t pleasant that someone else has offered more for the property, but it is a possible outcome with an auction. The notification that it became an auction because multiple candidates wanted to make bids was received by you with the statement that you already had appointments for 2 other properties and were actually ready with it. Apparently not.

The communication often left much to be desired, little consideration was given to our situation and wishes. And we had to correct several things multiple times. Instead of relieving stress, it mainly created extra stress - especially in a period that was already intense enough.

01 May 2025I had given up! I had been searching for a home for 2 years, always bidding. But it seemed impossible as a single person. I had a house with equity, but I wanted to purchase a new home before putting my old one on the market. I responded via internet to an advertisement at Van Gullik. A non-binding valuation of the property. I made an appointment, but a day before the appointment I called Mirjam saying that I was backing out. It wasn't difficult to sell my house after all. But it seems impossible to find another home before my house goes on sale. She still wanted to come by and I am glad I persevered. Partly thanks to her and a great mortgage advisor, I have found my dream house! Thanks Mirjam!

24 Apr 2025If you come from abroad, you sometimes find it difficult to navigate the cultural aspects of the housing market, especially during a housing crisis. Thanks to Daan, I was able to buy my first apartment in Amsterdam within 3 months! He gave advice on all aspects, such as finding a mortgage advisor, placing bids, checking the property. He handled the communication surrounding everything and was present until the key transfer. My advice to starters: you will need a lot of help to navigate the market. You must actively search Funda yourself, but for the rest, you need an expert.

The property was sold to our full satisfaction, and that is why we again chose Saen Real Estate for the sale of our second home. And again we are very satisfied. The sales process is largely automated via a Move account, where all documentation is uploaded and downloaded. We found this easily accessible and easy to use. Communication with Anniek was pleasant and professional. Our wishes were listened to carefully. The price-quality ratio is what we consider excellent. Because it was the second home we sold, we received an unsolicited 10 percent discount on commission, which we greatly appreciate. And perhaps the beautiful wooden birdhouse that we received after the sale of our first home also played a small role in our choice for Saen Real Estate.
