04 Aug 2025I had engaged Mathieu Paul to prepare a valuation report for my property. He had forgotten to take photos of the attic and asked me if I could do that. Since I had to pay € 800.00 for this report, I thought a discount would be appropriate. He was able to offer a € 20.00 discount. For that amount, I thought it better that he come take the photos himself, and he did so after first threatening to return the assignment. This wasn't an option, I think, because VOF Huurlingsedam was the client, not myself. When he came to take these two photos, he still wanted to know why I couldn’t do it myself, that he always likes to be in good contact with people and always tries not to overdo the valuation. Now? It was an unpleasant experience for me.

Dear Tom, I'm sorry you experienced the circumstances as unpleasant. I honestly hesitated whether I should respond and if this was the right medium for it. Not to assert my correctness, because it’s not about being right but about each other's interpretation, but precisely out of respect. Because silence could also convey something that I wouldn’t want: as if I don’t care what you think of it. On the contrary, that is why I would still like to give a brief explanation. You selected me from a list of appraisers, as prescribed by the rules for this type of appraisal. The landowner/developer is the client for the appraisal. I understand that € 800 is a lot of money. At the same time, I would also like to explain, as you know, that you pay half of that and the landowner/developer pays the other half. This too is arranged in the regulations. When I discovered that a photo of the attic was missing, something that happens very occasionally and is usually resolved by the owner or resident who then sends me that little photo via WhatsApp, I contacted you and asked if you could take two photos of the attic. You did not agree with this; it was my job, and in principle you are also right about that. You asked if there would be a discount included. I was surprised because I had never experienced this before and suggested a €20 discount. That didn't meet your wishes, after which you indicated that I should just come by myself for the photo of the attic. Which I did the next day. The tone of our contact at that moment, which I did not experience as pleasant and surprised me, made me suggest giving back the assignment if necessary. Not out of resistance, and not as a pressure tactic but because I genuinely believe in pleasant cooperation without hassle and with trust in each other. During my visit for the forgotten photo, I tried to express things to each other, to understand what the feeling was for you and for me, to clear the air. Apparently that didn’t succeed. What I also mentioned then is that I like to deal with people in a pleasant way and that I carry out my appraisal fairly. By that I mean getting to an honest appraisal without exaggerating. That applies to every assignment and that's what I stand behind in this situation as well. 22 Jan 2019We immediately had a good impression of Kris during the introduction. Pleasant and fluent in his interactions, and clear in his communication. During the first meeting, he also immediately calculated for us at the kitchen table what his assessment was of the value of the property, allowing us to exchange thoughts about the asking price right away. For our house, a very large number of viewings were requested in a short time. Kris felt it was important to personally show everyone around and tirelessly and enthusiastically showed the property to all interested parties. This ultimately resulted in a very quick sale for an excellent price. Throughout the entire process, Kris was always easily accessible and reliable; you can go to him with any questions. An extra plus point as far as we are concerned is also the involvement of a styling agency. Partly due to the professional photos, the property performed excellently on Funda. The only point for improvement might be that the standard package offered for Funda (no 360 degree photos and video) may be somewhat limited in proportion to the rest of the extensive and excellent service.

The team is involved and reliable and really thinks with you throughout the entire sales process. What was extra special for us is that they were willing to go the extra mile: even during the holidays — while the office was officially closed — they were available for us and helped us with various matters. That says a lot about their involvement and service orientation. Within 2 to 3 weeks after registration, our home was already online. In the same week, four viewing appointments were scheduled and the following week we already received the offers. The entire process went smoothly, professionally and pleasant. In short: a real estate agent who does what he promises and gives that little extra bit. Absolutely recommended!
