13 May 2025Absolutely recommended! I have worked intensively with Pieter and his team for the past few weeks and it has been very positive. He knows what he's talking about, knows the entire city like the back of his hand and has contacts everywhere. He does everything to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible and that just works really well. What I found particularly pleasant was the feeling of having someone truly on your side and genuinely advocating for your interests. To be honest, I found the whole process quite exciting at times (choosing a house, bidding, arranging a mortgage) and when someone thinks along with you in a sober and structured way, that is priceless. The only thing I would do differently next time is to choose the mortgage advisor that Pieter works closely with. Then the lines are shorter and that's important because arranging a mortgage has to be done within a certain timeframe and you don’t want it to go wrong there. Pieter and Zahra, thank you for your help and until next time!

Afterwards, we walked through the property for the valuation. After the tour of the house, we had a very good discussion about all matters that arise with a kind of home exchange. When it came to viewing properties, Martin's endless knowledge made a huge difference. He had an answer to everything we asked, from structural problems, improvements, renovation, short/long term costs. But by the time we would ask those things, he naturally already noticed the issues and informed us thanks to his eye for detail. What pleased us most was the way he handled bidding and negotiating. He gave purely objective opinions only. He never pushed a purchase or suggested it just to make quick profit. The extra hours he put in were spent on research and negotiations in the evening hours. 26 Apr 2024Following an inspection, we were forced to pray (buyer unfriendly), during the inspection it was indicated that the price not only counts but also other points, ultimately we were told that the bid would not be accepted, those other points therefore do not apply and we were wrongly informed. Also, the selling price was not mentioned, hence why we did make the highest offer. Not recommended to do business with.

If all goes well, you should have received a bidding log. In it, you can see that your bid is far below the highest bid. The process was very transparent, so I don't quite understand the reaction.

17 Dec 2024Joan and Rudy guided us through the buying and selling process. After inviting three local real estate agents, it was actually quite clear to us that we would choose Smit and Douma. During the first meeting, they immediately took a good look at our house and measured it directly so Joan could determine a good price based on comparable properties. Joan was also able to provide a lot of certainty about the price we could expect, so we could adjust our budget accordingly. When it came to properties for purchase, thorough research was done and comparable properties and their bidding behavior were analyzed. We also experienced both processes as very positive. Joan and Rudy were also available on weekends if quick decisions had to be made for both the sale and purchase. They create contracts digitally so that we, as buyers and sellers, can sign quickly, which speeds up the cooling-off period. For us as sellers, this provides quick certainty. All in all, very satisfied. We hope to live in our new house for a long time, but if we ever move again, we will definitely involve Joan and Rudy again.

For example, I ask 3 questions via Move or app, and it takes a long time to get an answer, and then only for 1 out of the 3 questions. Tip: Assign one employee responsible for ensuring customer questions are answered. They were all nice, friendly people though. If they do that better, I will definitely recommend them.
