The company was founded by Walther Kocken, who in 1946 together with his son Wim opened the way for the company's growth. In 1975, the office was established at Plantsoengracht 1, where it is still located today. The handover from generation to generation provided a strong foundation on which Walther took over the business in 1981. In addition to real estate, he also focused on project development and insurance. In 2000, the insurance department was sold, after which he focused entirely on real estate. Also his son Wim, who worked in Amsterdam at a renowned office, returned to the family business in 2012. Since 2018 he has been leading Kocken Real Estate, with the support of Walther.
