04 Aug 2025I had engaged Mathieu Paul to prepare a valuation report for my property. He had forgotten to take photos of the attic and asked me if I could do that. Since I had to pay € 800.00 for this report, I thought a discount would be appropriate. He was able to offer a € 20.00 discount. For that amount, I thought it better that he come take the photos himself, and he did so after first threatening to return the assignment. This wasn't an option, I think, because VOF Huurlingsedam was the client, not myself. When he came to take these two photos, he still wanted to know why I couldn’t do it myself, that he always likes to be in good contact with people and always tries not to overdo the valuation. Now? It was an unpleasant experience for me.

When I discovered that a photo of the attic was missing, something that happens very occasionally and is usually resolved by the owner or resident who then sends me that little photo via WhatsApp, I contacted you and asked if you could take two photos of the attic. You did not agree with this; it was my job, and in principle you are also right about that. You asked if there would be a discount included. I was surprised because I had never experienced this before and suggested a €20 discount. That didn't meet your wishes, after which you indicated that I should just come by myself for the photo of the attic. Which I did the next day. The tone of our contact at that moment, which I did not experience as pleasant and surprised me, made me suggest giving back the assignment if necessary. Not out of resistance, and not as a pressure tactic but because I genuinely believe in pleasant cooperation without hassle and with trust in each other. During my visit for the forgotten photo, I tried to express things to each other, to understand what the feeling was for you and for me, to clear the air. Apparently that didn’t succeed. What I also mentioned then is that I like to deal with people in a pleasant way and that I carry out my appraisal fairly. By that I mean getting to an honest appraisal without exaggerating. That applies to every assignment and that's what I stand behind in this situation as well. Reachability was high, the possibility of consultation was always available. Thanks to the online file, as a seller you stay informed about the viewings. Nikki knows how things work, is not discouraged by arguments from prospective buyers, and knows what she stands for: the best possible selling price for her client. Our sales process went smoothly and the house has generated sufficient viewings from which a sale originated. Honestly, we were quite critical and that made the search a considerable challenge for Nikki as well. Nevertheless, one day she came up with a house that was for sale (not yet on Funda!). Our hearts started beating faster; this was the house we had viewed in April 2024 during an Open House Day! My house was beautifully presented on funda thanks to a good photoshoot. I personally conducted the viewings in my house, but the real estate agent (Guido) negotiated on my behalf, which worked perfectly. He also gave me advice when I had various questions and when buying another house. Very accessible and pleasant. And not unimportant: a completely different financial picture than with a regular real estate agent.
