As a potential buyer, I visited several homes from Hoen Makelaars, including the one at Admiraal de Ruijterweg 509 in Amsterdam. The realtor was not particularly polite but arrogant. I even found him to be somewhat condescending. Upon entering, he continued chatting with another potential buyer who was before me. I was on time. The previous potential buyer kept lingering, while he moved on to my appointment slot. And it went on like that. The realtor also made a cheeky remark. When leaving, I am used to the realtor walking you to the door, especially when there is no in and out. This did not happen at all. After this, I have not visited any more homes from this agency. It's not just about the property but also the person you are facing. I would rather keep my money in my pocket. For the sale of my other home, I definitely know where I don’t want to be!

I think they offer reasonably affordable rental properties. The only thing I find a pity is that you had to send an email personally twice. The worst real estate agents you can find. These people don't take your calls seriously, whether you are in trouble, legally or otherwise.

After searching for a year, I happened to connect with a realtor from hoen vastgoedbeheer by chance. Very friendly and attentive, and within two weeks he provided me with 3 fantastic house options that my friend and I could select from. I can wholeheartedly recommend Hoen Makelaars, and in particular Aranka Verheij. I saw an apartment on Pararius and when I called Hoen to ask some questions before requesting a viewing, the customer service reacted immediately and was very helpful. I had a viewing with Aranka Verheij (real estate agent) and Jasper Boer (interim student) and they were both very welcoming. Aranka answered all my questions patiently. I needed to move out of my previous apartment as quickly as possible, so when Aranka told me that they would need five working days to decide whether the apartment would be offered to me, I kindly asked her to try to process my application as soon as possible. Within 1.5 days I received the apartment! When I met Aranka and Jasper to collect the keys to the apartment, they were again very friendly and welcoming. If you are an expat looking for an apartment in Amsterdam, I wholeheartedly recommend Hoen.
