10 Oct 2025I would like to compliment the real estate agents at RE/MAX along this route, particularly Tim van der Kruit and Marco Jonk, for their expert information regarding a free valuation on appraisal day (which ultimately took place last Thursday). Marco did this for me last year, and I followed up with Tim this year. I wanted to know how the market developed specifically for our house over the past year. Both were extremely knowledgeable and relevant, as it turned out that the conversation with Tim mirrored exactly what happened with Marco last year, and they also complemented each other very well. There was no immediate financial gain at first, but both meetings resulted in a professional-looking, documented report. Tim did not know about Marco's visit last year, but it quickly became clear that he operates on the same wavelength as Marco!! For this I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks, because they have been of great help to me. I believe that his support in finding and brokering a deal for our house in Zwaag was essential to the successful result. I would recommend Martin if you want to buy a house. And because I come from Great Britain and have lived/worked in Amsterdam for several years, it's a big step to move to an unfamiliar environment - Martin helped make this journey run smoothly. Also, for excellent financial advice, I would recommend Olaf at Huis en Hypotheek (I wish I had found such an expert in mortgages a few years ago!) This is located next to the RE/MAX office in Hoorn.

Date unknownI wanted to buy a house and the selling party had engaged Simpel Makelaars. Perhaps I delved into the situation more than others usually do. I ultimately didn't get a good feeling about Simpel Makelaars. The responses that I received from Simpel Makelaars (if time was a factor; NB spelling not edited by me): - 'I had an unpleasant dentist appointment yesterday, so I couldn’t respond sooner.' - 'Unfortunately, X is the only one handling it and she has a day off today.' - “X is unable to return to you today and will let you know something …day.” Only afterwards, now that the purchase hasn't gone through, do I see these responses as potentially insincere. During the purchasing process, I was still acting in good faith. The sellers of the house had not honestly filled out the VBO questionnaire. Example: Are your buildings and structures and those of your neighbors completely on your own land? The selling party had entered 'yes', but this turned out to be incorrect when I checked the cadastral data. Simpel Makelaars appeared to be well aware of this situation, but professionally kept themselves at a distance. Simpel Makelaars acts on behalf of the seller, but avoids responsibilities. Some quotes: - 'Yes, that's how I see it too, but this is the answer I received from my sellers.' - 'Sorry they (= the sellers) haven’t responded yet. According to our sellers, this shed has been there for 25 years and not on the property boundary, hence why we didn’t report it.' - 'The current sellers completely understand that you want to arrange this with your new neighbor, but this will then have to be arranged after the transfer.'

13 May 2025When selling my first house, several established real estate agents from Hoorn came for an intake meeting; it wasn't a pleasant experience. They all had a lot of criticism about my house, which was described as old and supposedly lacking in everything. I didn't have a good feeling about it. I don't remember exactly how, but I ended up with the real estate agency De Stijl, which had only been around for about 2-3 years. Mariska Appelman came by for a consultation and appraisal. What a relief, she seemed very positive, advising and engaged. The house was sold for a 30,000 guilder higher yield compared to others. So now I'm selling my second house, I didn't hesitate to choose De Stijl of course. It’s not a large agency but they are very involved and you certainly aren't just another number. The entire sales process is handled professionally and flawlessly. Quick response time on 06 and app. Two inspiring ladies Mariska and Isabelle who solve all problems perfectly.
