We have collaborated with Melvin twice. Both times it was a great experience, and most importantly, Melvin helped us both times in finding the right house for us. The first time we were looking for a property in the Netherlands. We weren't even in the Netherlands when we did so. Melvin is a good listener. He listened to all our wishes and requirements, made a shortlist of houses that were on the market, and after the second (online) viewing, we had our first house in a new country. He also knows the market and all the details about it. That helps with the negotiation and bidding process. After living in a rental property for 1.5 years, we decided to buy a home of our own. We knew who to call. Melvin of course :) Here too, he listened carefully to us, gave good advice, and put us in contact with the right people (notary, mortgage advisor, technical inspection etc.). I would no longer be able to recommend Melvin. My wife and I have lived in many different cities around the world, and never before have we had a better experience with a rental service. Worst service ever. Melvin scheduled a viewing with me and in the email he did not mention the door number of the building/apartment. When I arrived there, I was lost without information about the building, because there were multiple identical ones. Despite calling him several times, he didn't answer his phone. It took me more than 1 hour to get there by train and he simply doesn't care about people’s time. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.

Short review: If you want to buy in Utrecht and are looking for the best real estate agent, then stop searching. This is it. You've found them. Short story: Just like many tenants, I received a message three weeks ago that my rental agreement was ending and I needed to find a new home. Because the market is overheated and won’t get any better, I started looking for the best real estate agents in the Utrecht region. And sure enough: Van Doorn Makelaars. The communication and advice from the team were friendly, clear, and fast. In short: top. Expectations were set during the initial consultation about what was realistic for my challenging student budget (there was much more possible than I had expected). And during the search itself, extra care was taken to ensure I wouldn’t fall in love with a house that I likely couldn't get. During the viewings, Sebastiaan and Bert Jan showed all the expertise you could possibly want from a real estate agent. Not only finding drawbacks that I hadn’t thought of myself (and which were always justified!), and asking difficult but important questions to the seller, but also brainstorming about ways to make each house my home and giving truly sound advice on bidding strategy. This expert commitment from the entire Van Doorn team led to the following result: a dream house in the dream neighborhood in the hottest market in the Netherlands, and the whole process took a total of 1 week. So if you need help buying a house near Utrecht, stop searching. You’ve found the right real estate agent!
