25 Mar 2025We have collaborated with Melvin twice. Both times it was a great experience, and most importantly, Melvin helped us both times in finding the right house for us. The first time we were looking for a property in the Netherlands. We weren't even in the Netherlands when we did so. Melvin is a good listener. He listened to all our wishes and requirements, made a shortlist of houses that were on the market, and after the second (online) viewing, we had our first house in a new country. He also knows the market and all the details about it. That helps with the negotiation and bidding process. After living in a rental property for 1.5 years, we decided to buy a home of our own. We knew who to call. Melvin of course :) Here too, he listened carefully to us, gave good advice, and put us in contact with the right people (notary, mortgage advisor, technical inspection etc.). Melvin is patient, responsive and incredibly knowledgeable about the real estate market in Utrecht (that's where we worked with him, and I am sure he is also great in the other places where he works!). We also heartily recommend Melvin to expats. Because we come from abroad, there were many documents, bills, etc. that we did not need to arrange for a rental property. Melvin was able to help us through all of this, and despite the difficult housing market, we were able to find a place that we absolutely love. 25 Jul 2024Worst service ever. Melvin scheduled a viewing with me and in the email he did not mention the door number of the building/apartment. When I arrived there, I was lost without information about the building, because there were multiple identical ones. Despite calling him several times, he didn't answer his phone. It took me more than 1 hour to get there by train and he simply doesn't care about people’s time. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.

So instead of shouting that we have the 'Worst Service Ever', I think it's better to first check your own records. I have sent you proof of the email. And yes, during viewings I do not answer the phone. Because we hold private viewings with all our candidates, my phone is then on silent. Good luck finding a new apartment.

For the sale of my mother's house, we were guided by Hans Konings. He is honest and clear about what can and cannot be done. Very helpful, even with the buying party who did not have a real estate agent. Everything arranged from A to Z. Always responds quickly, even in the evening or on weekends. He guided us well through the sales process, and was the only one of the three brokers we had invited who came up with the good idea to have photos taken during our vacation. That pragmatic attitude is characteristic of Hans and decisive in our choice for him. We have not regretted that. Hans adapts easily and is flexible in his approach. He listens well to wishes and then gives good advice. He always responded within a day to our questions and he kept appointments. After some setbacks in our own purchase process, he recommended another skilled purchasing broker, Kersten. Which made us feel enormously helped. We can confirm, as several reviews already say, that Hans is a friendly, honest and skilled broker!

22 Oct 2024Short review: If you want to buy in Utrecht and want the best real estate agent, stop searching. This is it. You’ve found them. Long story: Like many tenants, I received a message three weeks ago that my rental agreement was ending and that I needed to look for a new home. Because the market is overheated and isn't going to get any better, I started looking for the best real estate agents in the Utrecht region. Look at this: Van Doorn Makelaars. The communication and advice from the team were friendly, clear, and fast. In short: top. Expectations were set during the initial consultation about what was realistic for my challenging bachelor budget (there was much more possible than I expected). And during the search itself, extra care was taken to ensure I didn’t fall in love with a house where there was a high chance I wouldn’t be able to acquire it. During the viewings, Sebastiaan and Bert Jan truly showed all the expertise you could wish for from real estate agents. Not only pointing out flaws that I hadn't thought of (and they were always right!) and asking the difficult but important questions of the seller, but also helping to brainstorm about ways to make each house my home and giving really sound advice on bidding strategy. This act of expertise from the entire Van Doorn team led to the following result: Dream house, in the dream neighborhood on the hottest market in the Netherlands, and the whole process took a total of 1 week. So if you are looking for help buying a house around Utrecht. Stop searching. You have found the right real estate agent!

Date unknownSebastian was the salesperson of our recently purchased house. He was poorly prepared for the viewing (didn't even know how to tell when sellers wanted to transfer ownership, for example) and communication throughout the further purchase process also left much to be desired. The garden turned out to be 2 meters shorter after purchase than indicated in the sales text (an excuse didn't wash) and he was sloppy and uninterested during the inspection on the day of the transfer, pulling some things straight from his sleeve. To the question why there was a loose designer radiator of the type from the bathroom in the shed, the answer was that the residents found the bathroom warm enough and therefore removed the radiator. When we pointed out to him that an identical radiator still hangs in the bathroom (and his 'explanation' is therefore incorrect), he went to inquire and it turned out that the actual explanation was that the radiator in the bathroom had damage and the example in the shed was a replacement. Finally, he didn't photograph the gas meter reading for the inspection report, but the gas meter number. Embarrassing that as a real estate agent you can’t even read a gas meter. Absolutely not a pleasant experience for me as a buyer and given his incompetence and negligence, I would not recommend him to anyone as a selling agent.
