03 Jan 2026In the past years, I have been very disappointed in (the craft of) real estate agents (both buyers' and sellers' agents). What a relief Irene van Aken (Real Estate) is!!! Someone who knows her portfolio, still really makes an effort to bring her offer to the right people's attention, communicates clearly, keeps appointments, does business with the right partners and takes those extra steps that I don't see with other real estate agents. Houses don't always sell themselves, but they do with Irene van Aken. I recommend her office everywhere around, for me never again another buyer's or seller's agent but Irene van Aken Real Estate!!!

24 Apr 2025School example of a Loesje realtor. I had scheduled a viewing for a property that was listed on Funda in Business. However, Leon got pneumonia, which can happen of course. Leon had promised to contact me if he would be better. Subsequently, I was ignored by phone for 3 (!!) months. Eventually, I gave up, assuming that the house had already been sold or that something bad had happened to Leon. Then, after the three mentioned months, I came across the same property on the regular Funda. Subsequently, I still scheduled a viewing with another number and alias. Presented Leon with the facts but no sign of a good reason, apologies or self-reflection.

07 Feb 2025Due to circumstances, I had to look for temporary accommodation (Short stay). I quickly ended up with Lichtcity Housing and immediately contacted Khalid about an apartment on their site. Everything was arranged quickly and correctly, and I was able to move into a nice apartment the same day. Very happy with this service! 08 Feb 2023Mr. van Engelen is a disgrace in the real estate world. We had submitted an offer on Friday afternoon for a house in Aalst-Waalre with the conditions regarding the transfer of the house attached. On Friday evening, we were called by Mr. van Engelen stating that our bid and our conditions had been accepted. On Monday, we made an appointment to sign the preliminary purchase agreement on Tuesday afternoon. I was called on Tuesday morning by Mr. van Engelen with the message that we could not buy the house after all because they went into business with another buyer! This other party suddenly offered more??!!! And better conditions??!! Unbelievable and unacceptable. So with Mr. van Engelen, a word is NO word, so the term unreliable certainly applies to this person, and he has thrown all decency overboard. SHAME!

Nevertheless, costs were charged for the damage and cleaning. When I asked for proof (for example, to demonstrate that the house had to be cleaned after my departure), I could not provide anything.

They ask money for all sorts of nonsense; €60 for printing out a contract, unlawful mediation costs, unjustified retention of deposit and finally exceeding the legal standard of room prices. Positive: they did provide a landlord statement neatly and quickly upon request. @Eigenaar/Marcel; The fact that you can't find me in a database doesn't mean I'm painting a wrong picture or writing unfair reviews.

We found a house that was outside of the original search criteria but one that made us very happy! Diederik also went to see it with us and we discussed whether it was the right house for us. It is!
