Subject to a structural survey, the (according to real estate agent Stadman Oosterhesselen) problem-free property at Dorpsstraat 19 in Gees was purchased. The survey revealed several defects, deferred maintenance, and concealed leaks. Repair costs approximately €22,000. Proposal to the real estate agent to share this amount with the sellers. Stadman's response: No way, unless we would indemnify the sellers from all defects that may occur in the property in the future. We saw this as a blank check and the purchase agreement was subsequently terminated. Tip for buyers of properties from Stadman: Don’t fall for it. Engage an independent structural surveyor and do not have the survey carried out by a contractor recommended by Stadman from the local area.
